Stephanie Lynn Rogers is an artist who works at the intersection of photography, textiles, community, and ecology. She uses these media to explore the complex relationships that human beings have with the species around us.
This interest was shaped from an early age by an entomologist grandfather and backpacking trips with the Girl Scouts. As an adult, Rogers focuses on the idea that human beings are an integral part of nature, and that cultural forces influence the way we interact with other species. Rogers is particularly interested in the labor and meaning behind objects (especially garments and furnishings) that support our everyday lives.
St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota (BA Studio Art) and Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia (MFA Photography and Graduate Certificate in Community Arts Practices) supported continued exploration. In addition to her personal practice, Rogers is an experienced arts administrator who has planned and facilitated hundreds of arts events of all kinds and sizes.
Rogers lives and works in Minnesota’s Driftless Region, the most ecologically diverse area of the state.
